One of the best parts about Los Angeles, is that there is always something to do. Every single day of the week, no matter what your taste or style, this city has an activity to satisfy your desires — which is exactly why we’ve created this short list of unique attractions to keep you entertained Monday through Sunday.
- Motown Mondays at Shortstop
Every Monday at Shortstop, DJs come into this funky Sunset Boulevard joint, and get the guests moving to the soulful sounds of Motown. R&B, funk, soul — here they’ve got all the hits from arguably the golden era of music.
- Diversity Night at The Laugh Factory
This famous comedy club now has a night dedicated to celebrating comedic diversity. Every Tuesday after 10pm, the Laugh Factory specially welcomes comedians from all over the world to share their gift with the audience.
- Whiskey Wednesday at the Thirsty Cow
Located in Silverlake, The Thirsty Cow offers more than 100 types of whiskey, and tons of awesome specials on Whiskey Wednesdays.
Many of their ingredients are fresh, so if you prefer cocktails over whiskey, they’ve got plenty of options to choose from.
- Thursday Night Turtle Racing at Brennan’s
Do you like high speed races? Do you like fearsome finishes at the end? Then this might be just the thing for you.
Just kidding, but seriously. These are loads of fun. This 40 year tradition starts at 10pm every Thursday. The turtles are classified into one of seven divisions ranging from Midget to Monster. You can even bring your own turtle to compete in the events or rent one of Brennan’s own seasoned veterans.
- Friday Night at 1 Oak LA
1 Oak Los Angeles is the third nightclub of the brand besides the New York and Las Vegas locations. While the LA location might be lesser known than its brother and sister in Vegas and NYC, this West Hollywood venue attracts plenty of star power.
Katy Perry, Kanye West, Leo DiCaprio, and Justin Bieber all frequent this Sunset Strip hotspot — and for good reason. From lounging, people-watching, or dancing, you’ll find something to enjoy here.
The ceilings are covered in lights, which are fully controlled by the DJ. Whether the DJ is playing old school jams, mashups and remixes, funk, hip hop, or EDM, the music is always enough to get the party started and to keep it going here.
- Swing into Saturday Night at The Dresden
I couldn’t write this list without including The Dresden. This throwback lounge was featured in one of the most quintessential LA films of all time — Swingers.
Marty and Elayne, the same couple who sing to the beatnik type characters in that famous scene, still perform to this day. It’s like stepping into a time machine where you’d have expect to see Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra sitting at a table when you arrive in this place of yesteryear.
- Reggae Sunday at the Basement Tavern of the Victorian
If you’re feeling in a mellow mood, this should do the trick. Off Main Street Santa Monica, The Victorian draws large crowds on Friday and Saturday night. However, not too many people know about Reggae Sundays.
It’s relaxed, the music is good, the people are just there to have a laid back time, and hey, bottomless mimosas on Sunday don’t hurt either, right?
